Training Courses & Workshops
Moving & Handling 4 hours (approx )
Initial training session which includes current legislation, spinal anatomy, risk assessment, back care, handling methods & aids and the safe handling of clients and loads. This course is suitable for staff who have never previously had moving and handling training.
Moving & Handling Update 2.5 hrs (approx)
Covers current legislation, anatomy of the spine, condemned lifts, causes and prevention of back injury, handling aids and the safe handling of clients and loads. Suitable for those who have already undertaken initial moving and handling training and now require an annual update.
First Aid (Appointed Person) Training one-day course
Covers emergency first aid, resuscitation, controlling breathing, treating burns and scalds, minor injuries, bleeding, unconsciousness, shock and much more. Candidates will be required to complete and pass a short test paper before receiving a three year certificate.
First Aid Awareness (Refresher) 3 hours
Designed as a refresher/practice session for those who have previously undertaken the Appointed Person course and who wish to update their skills. Please note that this is not the actual Appointed Person course or a requalification course for qualified first-aiders.
Foundation Cert in Health & Safety in the Workplace one-day course
Certificated by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Heath ( CIEH). Covers all aspects of health and safety including risk assessment, H&S at Work Act, COSHH, accident reporting and prevention, management of H&S at Work regulations and personal protective equipment. Includes a short examination. Successful candidates will receive a CIEH certificate valid for three years.
Principles of COSHH 3 hours (approx)
This CIEH certificated course covers labelling and identification, what is a hazardous substance? health effects and surveillance, COSHH assessments and control measures.
Foundation Certificate in Stress Awareness one-day course
Another CIEH course that covers definitions and effects of stress, recognising stress and its causes, dealing with stress at work and stress self-assessment.
Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene one-day course
This CIEH course covers all aspects of food preparation and food handling. Includes personal hygiene, contamination, storage & disposal of food, stock rotation and the legal requirements of handling food in the workplace. Suitable for all those who handle food or assist in its preparation/serving, including those who handle raw meats. Following a short examination, successful candidates will receive a three year CIEH certificate.
Infection Control 3 hours (approx)
Comprehensive session that includes personal hygiene, disposal of waste, infection and immunity and dealing with spillages. Candidates receive a certificate valid for one year.
Protection of Vulnerable Adults (PoVA) 3 hours (approx)
This session looks at all elements of the protection of vulnerable adults, including what constitutes abuse and how to recognise it, abuse of clients and staff, monitoring and reporting abuse and how to respond appropriately. Candidates receive a one year certificate.
Fire Safety Awareness 2 hours (approx)
This very informative course includes employers' and employees' responsibilities, identification of fire hazards, emergency procedures and planning, means of escape, equipment and fire drills. All candidates receive a certificate valid for one year.
Medication Management 3 hours (approx)
This workshop includes an introduction to medication and prescriptions, record keeping, the safe administration of medicines, accountability and responsibility and confidentiality when dealing with medication. Candidates receive a one year certificate.
Food Hygiene Awareness 3 hours (approx)
For those who are involved in assisting with food preparation/handling. Includes storage and disposal of food, contamination, pest control and personal hygiene. Not suitable for staff who handle raw meats or those whose main role is food preparation (cooks/chefs) please see details of our CIEH Food Hygiene course. One year certificate obtained.
Dealing with Dementia 3 hours (approx)
Covers all aspects of dementia and how to understand and care for those suffering with any form of dementia. All those attending will receive a certificate valid for one year.
Bereavement and Loss 3 hours (approx)
This course provides an awareness of the different types of bereavement and loss and how people can be supported through this process. All candidates receive a one year certificate of attendance.
Risk Assessment 3 hours (approx)
A very useful workshop that includes the management of regulations, identification of hazards, the concept of risk assessment and control measures. All those attending will receive a certificate of attendance valid for one year.
Emergency First Aid Workshop 3 hours (approx)
A session designed to give those attending a general basic knowledge of emergency first aid. All candidates receive a certificate of attendance valid for one year.
Health & Safety Awareness 3 hours (approx)
This essential workshop provides a general overview of health and safety in the workplace and includes risk assessment, COSHH and accident prevention. All those attending receive a certificate of attendance.
